(New!) If you are a Lynbrook student, you can drop off the books in Mr. Howden’s room (504) on the lower three shelves of the bookshelf to your left when you enter the room.

As AP testing and SAT testing are coming to an end this school year, many of us will have no more use for our copies of Barron’s or Princeton Review. Instead of letting them collect dust on the shelf, we’d like to invite you to help the library by donating your textbooks and prep books to GROW!

GROW is collecting prep books until June 8 (sample exams or released exams also welcome). These books will be sold at a later date, with all proceeds going to the Calabazas Library.

Requirements for the books:

Must be in fairly good condition. (Some wear is fine.)

Must have minimal writing/marks. (If marks are present, pencil is preferable. If you’re not sure whether the book is acceptable or not, please donate it anyways.)

Must be targeted towards students in middle school or high school.

To donate books or for more information, email info+prepbooks@growlibrary.org or talk to any of the officers. Arrangements for picking up the books will be made individually.

Thank you and please keep an eye out in June for the list of books to be sold!

First of all, GROW would like to thank everyone who came to the concert and everyone who helped make it possible. We would especially like to thank our fantastic artists who made the concert possible and did a magnificent job. Thanks to everyone’s support, we were able to fundraise 2530 Dollars for the new Calabazas Library to pay for materials and books. We had more than 400 people come and support us at this concert. This was a marvelous success and we hope that all of you will continue to support us in our future programs!

Sincerely,

The GROW Team

The Calabazas Library not only provided services for the residents of San Jose but also the entire Indian community because of their very strong collections in many Indian Languages.

Our first effort to fundraise for the Calabazas Library is a result of the passion of Badri Krishnan. As a budding Veena artist, Badri is passionate about music and contacted two very well known and talented musicians, Ragavan Manian and Nachiketa Sharma. They agreed immediately to perform a jugalbandhi, to be held at the Jain Temple hall. Alice, Rohit and Robert provided many other services including designing our website and flyer for this event.

Shri Ragavan, an expert in Carnatic music, has performed in many cities and festivals, including the Cleveland Tyagaraja Aradhana and South India Fine Arts. Shri Nachiketa Sharma has extensively performed in cities across India and the United States.

The concert is expected to last at least about 3 hours, and seat at least 500 people. We are deeply grateful for their contribution.

All proceeds will go to the San Jose Public Library Foundation, to be used for the Calabazas Library. It will be a major source of funds for the GROW organization, the San Jose Public Library Foundation, and ultimately, the Calabazas library. The money will go towards furniture and supplies, as well as books and other materials to continue to help foster education for children, teens, and adults alike, like the Calabazas Library has done for years.

Please take a look at the enclosed flyer for more information about the Jugalbandhi concert.

Thank you very much for your time and support.
